The binary files are flat 8 bit layers, 3600 rows, 7200 columns,
compressed with the GNU gzip utility. Upper left corner is 180W, 90N. Each pixel is a 0.05 degree cell.
CAVEAT: These files are provided as a
courtesy to users having difficulty with the officially released data file format. These
are not the official data product releases.
NOTE: The official data are freely available at the EDC DAAC. The data set name to search for at EDC is "MODIS/TERRA LAND COVER TYPE 96-DAY L3 GLOBAL 0.05DEG CMG V004". A global extent search should return 1 file.
